Fall is one of my favourite seasons in which to photograph; and luckily for me, it’s exactly when Mike and Amanda wanted to take their engagement photos!
Choosing a location for your engagement photos is difficult since there are so many amazing locations in the GTA to choose from; however, Mike and Amanda took little time to decide – they had their heart set on engagement photos in High Park. High Park is a very popular place for photos in Toronto; however, it’s important to note that High Park doesn’t offer photography permits and doesn’t technically allow professional photography to occur there. Although photographer isn’t technically allowed, it’s not illegal – that means that you can try to take photos there; however, if you’re asked to leave by park staff, you must comply. For that reason, I always suggest that wedding day photos never be taken at High Park as, on a wedding day, you simply don’t have time to go to a backup location if you are asked to leave. Luckily for Mike and Amanda, we picked a quiet day to take their engagement photos and got through our whole session at High Park without problems – we even got to take photos on the bridge!
We started off with a walk through some of the smaller trails; enjoying the crisp air and beautiful colours as we began casually shooting. Eventually we strolled down do the river where Mike and Amanda donned their favourite football jerseys and tossed around the ol’ pigskin for a while. As huge football fans, Mike and Amanda were adamant about having some fun football photos added into the mix for the day (and I must admit, I love it when clients bring in personal touches to the session!).
We finished off our afternoon when a beautiful backlit shot on the bridge at High Park; a perfect shot to end a perfect day!
