At Home Engagement Photos

One of the best ways to capture the love you have with your special person is to opt for at home engagement photos.  Now, the term “home” can be used loosely as home really is wherever you feel most comfortable.  Some people feel more comfortable in their future spouses condo because perhaps they still live with their parents.  Some folks feel more comfortable in a beautiful AirBnB than in their home because they didn’t have to spend hours cleaning it (*cough, cough, that’s me, cough*) but regardless of where you call home, having a quiet, peaceful and intimate space in which to spend time together as a couple is a great way to capture your engagement photos.

At home engagement photos are some of the most fun sessions because when you leave the session, you feel like you have a new friend!  Getting to know your photographer (and the photographer getting to know the clients) so much more intimately is a great way to connect and form a really special bond.

We’ve been shooting more and more cozy at home engagement photos this year and we really hope that this trend continues!  We are totally all aboard this one!

Tips for shooting at home engagement photos

  • Home doesn’t need to be your house; it can be anywhere you feel comfortable.
  • Choosing an AirBnB is a great option if you don’t feel relaxed in your own home or if there are barriers to peacefulness in your home (ie: if you have little ones)
  • Wear comfortable clothes but also consider taking advantage of the privacy of your session!  Some people choose to wear something a bit more saucy like a long sweater and cute underwear – something you’d never go outside in!
  • Don’t go Pinterest crazy before your session.  I know it’s tempting – but finding dozens of “inspiring” pictures to re-create takes the romance out of your session and turns it into a technical production.  Trust in yourself, trust in your partner and trust in your photographer.  Love freely and love openly.  Your photos will be great.  I promise.
