Cherry Beach Engagement Shoot
A Cherry Beach engagement shoot is handsdown one of our absolute fave shoots for a number of reasons. First, it’s relatively private. Don’t get me wrong, you’re certainly not going to have the whole beach to yourself, but there’s usually way fewer people there than at other beaches. Second, it’s really versatile. From the sand to the lifeguard station to the beautiful greenery you have a little bit of everything here. Oh – and if you loge pogos and poutine, there’s a kick-butt food truck there in the summers too (that’s our personal favourite reason!!)

Cherry Beach Engagement Shoot: Tips for Couples
- Cherry beach is a real beach – this means sand. And honestly, it’s not the softest sand in the world. Choose your footwear carefully. Personally, I think taking your shoes off completely when walking near the water is the best choice. Don’t forget to bring a little towel with you to wipe off any extra sand from your feet before you put your shoes back on.
- Since we’re right on Lake Ontario, Cherry Beach can be exceptionally windy. This is wonderful in the summer because it’s really cooling and breaks the summer heat, but in the spring and fall it can make things downright uncomfortable. If you’re going to opt for a Cheery Beach engagement shoot, do it in the summer when the weather is the warmest.
- Speaking of wind, anyone with long hair will have to reconcile with the idea of having the wind re-style them. If you’re a pretty chill person, that shouldn’t be a problem, but if you have higher maintenance hair, I’d definitely suggest a smaller more intimate beach that’s north of the city in order to avoid the winds.
- Sunset is the time to go! Aside from some shade around the trees and greenery, there isn’t much open shade on a beach so you’ll want to go when the light is at it’s most flattering.
