Earlier this year I had the pleasure of working with not only a group of incredibly talented vendors but also with 5 amazing brides at the Rockwood Conservation Area for a Rockwood Conservation Wedding styled session!  Most people think that a Toronto wedding photographer would be uncomfortable in the great outdoors – but having grown up in Northern Ontario, I was right back in my element!  I was thrilled to put my skills to the test alongside several other Toronto and Kitchener/Waterloo region photographers and worked away on some of the most beautifully designed sets I’ve ever seen.

But before I continue… what is a styled session?  A styled session is when a group of vendors get together with a model (either a trained model or, in this case, real life brides!) on a non-wedding day to create beautiful sets and take beautiful pictures.  Many of the images you see in wedding magazines and blogs are styled sessions as opposed to real weddings.  Although some aspects of styled sessions simply cannot be mimicked on an average wedding day, elements of a styled session can be used as inspiration for brides and grooms to create their perfect vision for their wedding day.

This particular vignette from the session is titled ‘The Market’.  It’s built upon old wooden crates and rustic decor pieces such as vintage suitcases.  Atop the suitcases and crates were china plates and teacups, fresh flowers, a delectible cake, a colourful pashmina and the most perfect pair of blue high heels shoes!  Think of a vintage bridal market – built just for you!  (Wouldn’t wedding planning be easy if you could wander through a personalized market?)

Emily, my Market vignette bride, wore her hair in a simple curl, gently pulled back to showcase her amazing eyes.  With a touch of natural makeup to accent her beauty, her ensemble was completed with a statement necklace.
