GET TO KNOW THE FACES BEHIND THE CAMERAS

ABOUT TEN·2·TEN PHOTOGRAPHY: YOUR TORONTO WEDDING TEAM

We’re all about capturing the real story of your wedding day with a unique and creative spin. Real emotions. Real reactions. Real events.

We approach a wedding day as a blank canvas; allowing ourselves to be inspired by the events of the day, our connection with the couple and the connection they share with one another. We shoot with purpose; this means we don’t just point our camera and click away – it means that there is forethought and care that goes into every photo we take.

We believe in experience and we believe in continued education; this is why our team consists only of experienced wedding photographers who wore tirelessly to improve their skills year after year.

OUR
VALUES

Let’s face it, we were never cool.
Not in high school and not now.
We’re just real people who hate all that trendy “authenticity” stuff.

Let’s forget about being insta-famous for a minute and focus on what the real values of everyone on the team at Ten·2·Ten Photography is.

Body Positivity

We celebrate all bodies. In a world where our industry is heavily influenced by photoshop and manufactured “beauty”, we go against the grain. Regardless of what the wedding magazines have on their covers, all bodies are celebrated and accepted with us. Beauty comes in all abilities, sizes, genders, ages and shapes.

When you marry your partner, you know that they love you for exactly who you are; inside and out. This is why we do not artificially manipulate any persons bodies with Photoshop. It is absolutely not out place to judge what is beautiful and what needs “touching up”.

We are here to celebrate you; exactly as you are!

We acknowledge that some folks have areas they would prefer to accentuate over others and that everyone is on a different part of their journey when it comes to loving their own bodies and we welcome open and supportive conversations to help you feel as comfortable in front of our camera as you can be; we just want to make sure everyone knows that we’re on team body-positivity and we will never pass judgement on your body and artificially manipulate it in post production.

The wedding industry lacks diversity; the major blogs and publications typically showcase only one style of couple and when they do branch out – if not done appropriate – tokenizes the individuals they’re showcasing. Inclusivity isn’t just limited to our portfolios; if you’re not doing the work outside of your portfolio, you’re only being performative.

For us, inclusivity means:

1. Removing gendered language from our website, contracts, materials and socials
2. Refusal to use hashtags that could tokenize the individuals in our photos
3. Supporting (in person and online) minority owned businesses.
4. Representing all minorities and marginalized groups including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, couples of all ages, couples of all abilities and couples of all body sizes and body shapes.
5. Sharing images with only like-minded vendors
6. Ensuring that our “preferred vendors” guide includes minority owned businesses in every category
7. Investing in diversity and inclusion education
8. Not supporting conferences, education or photo contests that are not actively inclusive
9. Using our platform to raise awareness of minority causes
10. Acknowledging that our learning, as allies, is never done.

Inclusivity

Inclusivity, for us, is more about our actions in our daily lives and our business lives and it’s so much more than a blurb on a website. We did want to put this here, though, to make sure folks know that we are a safe space!

Relationships

Trust, honesty, respect and communication are cornerstones to our approach (even if it goes against the grain of what the status quo in the industry is!)

We value relationships; with out team, with our clients and with fellow vendors. Valuing relationships means that we approach everything with do we honesty, trust, integrity and respect.

We have open discussions with our clients about their wedding day priorities, any special accommodations or situations we should be made aware of in order to best provide service, and we discuss and adhere to their wishes around image sharing. The wedding industry status quo is for photographers to send your ENTIRE wedding gallery to ALL your vendors and frankly, we find that practice to be unfairly balanced. We respect the relationships with have with our clients and our like-minded vendors and ensure that communication is the foundation of all our decisions.

OUR PHILOSPHY ON PUBLICATIONS

We photograph weddings for our clients, not for publications. We’ve been there, done that, and active chose to steer away from submitting weddings to blogs a few years back.

Sure, publications can be nice for SEO – but all they generally care about is details and expensive designers. Not to mention, most publications are nowhere near inclusive and that is not in line with our values.

We love photographing your details; jewelry, clothing and florals just to name a few – but it will always be with the intention to make amazing memories for you, not for submitting to a blog.
