It wasn’t along ago that I made the announcement that I would add to my existing role as a wedding photographer. In August 2016 I adopted the role of Toronto lifestyle photographer and I couldn’t be happier with that decision! Just scroll through these images of Kathryn’s lifestyle maternity session and you’ll see why.
The session was scheduled to start at 10 but like any mom-to-be who also has a toddler, things were running a wee bit late. Kathryn was still putting on her makeup when I arrived; it was scattered on the kitchen table as she ran around multi-tasking like the world’s most amazing super hero. Did I mention she looked fabulous while doing this, even without the makeup on?
Her little guy decided he wanted to paint too.
… paint… makeup… what’s the difference?
Although the session hadn’t technically started yet; my role as a Toronto lifestyle photographer is to capture what’s happening as it’s happening. Uninterrupted. Genuine. Full emotion. When the little guy grabbed the makeup and started “painting”, I grabbed my camera and started capturing.
This is an honest glimpse into their world.
This is what lifestyle photography is about.
Lifestyle photography is the perfect style of photography when little kiddos are involved. It allowed them to really be themselves. There’s no posing; no rules to follow. If you want to hide under some pillows in the middle of a session, then you can hide under some pillows in the middle of the session. You do you, little guy!
As Kathryn anxiously awaited the arrival of her baby, her little guy was learning how to be a big brother. So many times throughout the session he turned to his mommy and hugged his sister, ie: mom’s belly. He’s a very protective big brother and his little sister is very lucky to have such a wonderful protector.
Just a few more weeks until the bump is gone and a newborn baby will be in that crib. Congratulations to the whole family!
