Being a Toronto wedding photographer, I often find myself in urban locations. I often take engagement photos in downtown Toronto; the urban environment is lovely. It’s awesome; don’t get me wrong. What I love most of all; however, is hopping in the car, driving away from the city and exploring a new place! These YMCA Cedar Glen engagement photos are fresh off the press and ready to tell a story and I couldn’t be happier to be showing them.
The YMCA is a special place for Lily & Tony; it wasn’t too long ago, along the Summit Trail, that Tony popped the question. Of course Lily said yes, Tony is one stand-up guy! So sweet, kind and caring; seeing him with Lily and having a chance to capture their engagement photos leaves allowed me to really see just how much love exists between them.
Outdoor engagement photos are a wonderful way to incorporate your furry friends into your engagement session. I was continually amazed by the amount of energy this little puppy had; I don’t think I saw him stop running the entire time we were shooting. It’s rather difficult to capture images of a puppy that is running at top speed; but I was bound and determined and some pretty cute images resulted. But I digress… back to the real stars of the day – Lily & Tony!
We were fortunate enough to have Tony chauffeur is around the property; this allowed us to make it to areas that would have been rather difficult to make it to had we been on foot. This particular area is called “the bowl”. Aside from shooting it at a wide angle, I used a few techniques including prisming and the Brenizer Method to help convey just how large this area was compared to us. It was a MASSIVE bowl and we were standing right in the middle of it. Nature is both overwhelming and awesome.
A quick stop inside for a change of outfits; of course I’ll take any opportunity to work with cool lighting and coloured glass, though!
As the skies were beginning to cloud over and the winds were whipping across the land, we finished our session overlooking the beautiful YMCA Cedar Glen property. A beautiful location for a beautiful couple.
Congratulations to both of you; you’re both beautiful people inside and out and I couldn’t have been more excited to capture these images for you. I look forward to doing it all again on your wedding day!
