It’s always nice to get an email from someone who was referred by a past client. The wacky world of Toronto wedding photography can be pretty competitive which means it’s always very humbling to receive a referral from a past client. I was incredibly honoured when Alexia and JP sent me an email (after meeting me at her brother’s wedding last year) to be asked to capture their Donald Club wedding photos.
Let me set the scene for you… it was a bright spring day without a cloud in the sky. After a long, drawn-out winter it was quite exciting to see the beautiful colours that nature had brought for us this year. Alexia’s dad had spent weeks gardening planting an array of colourful flowers just for the occasion; a beautiful rainbow to great you as you walked up the path to Alexia’s parents home. The bride was having her makeup expertly applied while we captured some of the beautiful details of the day. Her dress was impressive – lace from top to bottom! Elegant, chique and timeless. The shoes were dainty and a perfect accompaniment for the style of the dress. A perfect string of pearls completed Alexia’s wardrobe for the day.
We arrived at the Donalda Club where one single row of chairs were present for the ceremony. Alexia and JP chose to have a personal and intimate wedding ceremony with only their immediate family and friends. She walked down the aisle with a killer smile on her face – she knew the man of her dreams was waiting at the other end for her.
All of Alexia and JP’s friends greated them during cocktail hour – the merriment and jubilation could not be contained. As the sun began to set, a beautiful dinner was served, an intimate cupcake cutting ensued and the dancefloor opened with the most important dance of all… the Chicken Dance! Of all the weddings I have photographed, this is honestly the first time I’ve seen the chicken dance and I would love to see it again! Never before have I seen so many people (of all ages) race to the dancefloor.
One last portrait to finish off the night. Alexia and JP’s Donald Club wedding was simply beautiful and breathtaking.
